lyrics
Something is wrong,
I can feel the wings of something inside of me turn.
Subtle at first, but over the years
I can't ignore the pangs of it's wants and needs.
It made a cave in my heart and settled in,
breaking through the barrier of my skin.
It's reaching out for warmth and touch
but only rots my bone,
and now my heart is it's home.
It's overgrown with regret
and living off the life I have left.
I've lived this lie to be consumed;
I felt a knock then came a plume.
'Cause the fontanel of my chest
was no detour for the beast under my breast,
and now a swarm exhumes itself
out from my rotted core
as if that was all my life was for;
a host for it's nest.
A bird trapped in a room
sang to me softly for freedom,
I opened the door to let it out
but something else found it's way in
and that usurper's name was sin.
It murdered all the joy I had left within.
It's full of want and now it's free
to lust and take.
I tried so hard to keep it out
but now it's gone and taken it's place
in spite of me.
It lives inside of me
in spite of me.
